Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Helder Costa is presently on the to-sign list of all club especially Premier League clubs, where he has been getting a lot of attention, with Liverpool showing the most interest.
It would be a boost for Liverpool if they succeed in bringing Costa to Anfield this summer.
Per Skysports, he moved on loan to the Molineux Stadium from Benfica in the summer of 2016 prior to his brilliant performances which convinced the Wolves to make the deal permanent in a four-and half year contract reportedly worth £13 million in the winter transfer window.
The Wolves’ season has been full of ups and down and Costa has been one of their major highlight of the season. In 34 appearance this season, Costa has scored 10 goals and has 6 assists to his name.
His skill and speed came as a great surprise to everyone and he has persisted in being an element of fear of to opposition. He had an eye-catching performance at Anfield in the Wolves’ 2-1 triumph against Liverpool on Saturday thereby attracting attention of prospective buyers.
The 23-year-old has the ability to penetrate defense in a set play to assist his teammates in putting through a goal and also has the ability to play both the left and right flank.
The Portuguese is highly needed at Liverpool as they are currently weak on the attacking front. The North Londoners have been in pursuit of a player with almost the same qualities since last summer, but all effort to lure in their first target Wilfried Zaha proved abortive and they could not sign any player.
Mauricio Pochettino would find a rare gem in Costa for his speed and defensive skills and his ability to take an aim at goal and his style of play which is similar to that employed by Pochettino.
Given his penchant for goal, Costa would go a long a way in taking the pressure off Tottenham striker Harry Kane and will bring out the fight out of the likes of Erik Lamela, Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-Min. Without a doubt, he would be a better signing compared to Paul Lambert’s recent intake, Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Moussa Sissoko.
Signing Costa would put an end to Spur’s search for variety and flexibility in attack and he would come at an affordable price. But they would need to be swift as he could be snatched up by their competitors at any time.
