Could Juventus defender Dani Alves be moving to England this summer
May 9, 2017,
Spanish newspaper Sport reported that Juventus right-back Dani Alves could be on his way out of Juventus this summer with three Premier League clubs hoping to take him off the market after just one year in Serie A, where he could still win the treble with Juventus at the top of the League, in the Coppa Italia final and Semi-finals of the Champions League.
At 34, his career may be drawing to a close, but he is critically acclaimed for living up to and past expectations since he transferred to Italy from Barcelona for free last year.
Despite being at the final stage of his career, the former Sevilla winger turned full-back obviously still has a lot to offer. The Champions League semi-final first leg made that fact obvious. Alves’ two assist for Gonzalo Higuan shows he can still compete at the top tier and has a good enough vision, passing and touch to set up his teammates when on the attack not allowing the opposition winger stop him.
Alves would without a doubt add more depth to the wing-back at either Manchester City or Chelsea given his attacking prowess as well as his defensive skill. His time under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola at Barcelona is obviously an added advantage for the Citizens, but Turin is likely to be filled with good words about Antonio Conte and he may be convinced to move to the Stamford Bridge, while United will probably be spending huge.
At 34-year-old, this season could be the only opportunity that Juventus has to make profit out of him after picking him off the transfer market last summer on a free transfer. Alves is understandably content with where he is at the moment and the Italian club are no doubt satisfied with the result he has produced thus far, but if an attractive deal comes along, they may be willing to let him go and give more opportunity to their young squad members.
