Cristiano Ronaldo becomes the all-time European top scorer with his brace against Celta Vigo

Real Madrid

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has stamped his name in the history books by becoming the all-time highest goal scorer in Europe’s five biggest leagues after scoring for Real Madrid against Celta Vigo.

Ronaldo netted his 367th league goal just 10 minutes into the game, moving past former England international Jimmy Greaves and attained yet another milestone in his career

Isco made a pass to Ronaldo on the edge of the area and rifled a left-footed shot inside the net to set another personal record.

During the weekend, Ronaldo’s first goal against Sevilla took him to 400 goals for Madrid and his second goal of the game placed him on par with Greaves on the all-time list for league goals.

He wasted little time in taking control of the game with his early effort, which is his 283rd in the league for Madrid, which posed a threat to the Celta squad, having already racked up 84 goals in the English Premier League for Manchester United.

Then Ronaldo picked up his 368th league goal while also doubling the lead over the opposition just three minutes into the second half with another perfect finish after again being set up by Isco.

His Barcelona rivals Lionel Messi is still very much active and is hot on his heels as the Argentina international has netted 346 league goals since he made his first appearance in 2004.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the third most active player on the list, taking the 11th position with his 268 goals. His goals in Spain, England, Italy and France make him the only player in the top twenty to have scored in more than three leagues.
