Reports: Celtic star could be on his way out of the club (Not Dembele/Griffiths)

Celtic are still yet to make any additional signing since their move for Marvin Compper and Scotland Under-21 midfielder Lewis Morgan who opted for a £300,000 switch to the Parkhead despite keen interest from clubs down south including Nottingham Forest.

Celtic man Liam Henderson is on the verge of leaving Parkhead and signing for Italian side Bari, according to a reliable info from Sky Sports journalist.

According to the Sky Sport reporter Keith Downie, he claimed on his personal Twitter handle on Wednesday morning that 21-year-old Henderson has jetted out of Italy to participate in a trial with Bari and has impressed the club enough to secure a move.

It is understood that the Italian second-tier club are now very close to completing a deal after the Daily Record reported that the midfielder had been offered an account by the club.

He is out of contract with Celtic at the end of the season and would be able to leave the Parkhead on a free transfer.

He has played just once for the Bhoys this season when he came off the bench against Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership. He is now set for a move to Bari in a bid to help the club secure a promotion to the Serie A.

The southern-Italy side are currently sitting fourth in Serie B under the manager of Fabio Grosso, five points behind leaders Palermo.

Liam Henderson certainly has the potential for a regular first-team football for Celtic, but he is just not able to reach that stage with his route to the first-team blocked by an array of top central-midfield talent. Celtic have not really had any injuries in that area of the team this season and that has meant that the midfielder had a sniff of even making the bench. He should be a good signing for the Italian side but it is a bit of a bizarre move. Not many British players, let alone Scottish players, move to Italy, especially at an early stage of their career. The move is so odd that it could be a masterstroke to get the midfielder’s career back on track. He will likely be back in Scotland soon.
