These Reasons Can Hinder Liverpool from Winning the Title This Season

Liverpool are one of the strong favourites tipped to win the Premier League this season. The Reds have scored 30 goals in 12 league games and have only been kept at bay in three matches. Their attack is on fire presently and not too team many would be able to stop the quartet of Saido Mane, Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana.

Except Man City that they are yet to face, they have not lost against any of the top six clubs they have played this season and they are also out of Europe, giving them a golden opportunity of claiming the title though they have tried to play down their title talk.

The last time the Anfield outfits went close to winning the title was in 2013/2014 under Brendan Rodgers when the club scored over 100 goals with the attacking partnership of Lius Suarez and Daniel Sturridge claiming 52 of the goals.

Liverpool have not won the title in 26 years and this drought has made their rival  Man United to overtake them  as England leading team in terms of league titles won.

Despite their high flying start these reasons may bring back the disappointment of the 2013/2014 season.

Injuries

The Premier League is arguably the most competitive in Europe. Congested fixtures, especially during the festive period always take its toll on teams and this can make or mar the season of any club. Liverpool will hope all their players will be fit for every game as the season enters its crunch times. Injury to their star players will hamper their title bid. Klopp knows he has to strengthen some key areas of the team when the transfer window opens in January.

Defence

The Reds defence have leaked in 14 goals this season already, which is more than any of the top four teams. Only Man United and Everton have conceded the same number of goals in the top half of the table after 12 games. Liverpool have serious problem that needs to be dealt with at the back. Their game against Crystal Palace is a clear example, though they eventually won the game. There are teams that will definitely get the better of the Klopp’s men. Conceding at the rate may not win them the title.

Chelsea

Liverpool may have defeated them 2-1 already this season but not sure if the Reds could overcome them with the Blues current form.  Since the loss at Arsenal, Antonio Conte side have not dropped points and have not conceded. They occupy the summit of the league table with 28 points. The Italian boss won the Serie A title in each of his season with Juventus and replicating that in England may not be impossible.
