Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck is reportedly back in action to face Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby this weekend.
The Evening Standard claims that the 26-year-old England international has returned to full training after recovering from a hamstring injury.
The newspaper reports that the ex-Manchester United forward has progressed well in the sessions and Welbeck could potentially played as the Gunners welcome Mauricio Pochettino‘s side to the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
He has been a long-term absentee for the Gunners this season, having not played for the squad since their 2-1 Premier League defeat at the hands of Watford last month.
Before then, Welbeck had enjoyed a brilliant start to the season, netting three goals and providing one assist in the process.
The Welbeck update will be worrying for Spurs as the Englishman has a descent record against them, netting twice and providing four assists in 11 appearances.
Spurs are looking to extend their brilliant record against arch-rivals as they have not lost to Arsenal at the Emirates since 2013-14 season.
F/W’s view
Given the fact that Aaron Ramsey is a major doubt alongside teammate Olivier Giroud, Arsenal will be delighted that there is some positive news on Welbeck’s fitness front ahead of the North London derby. Although Welbeck has been the subject of criticism, with some critics laying emphasis for his clinical finishing in the past, he certainly bring pace to this Arsenal team and he will certainly cause problems for Tottenham’s back-line. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have been impressive defensively this season and they’ll be the team bouncing into this game with the most confidence. Tottenham had Harry Kane and Dele Alli rested during the international break which mean they should be a full strength for his huge clash on the weekend.
