Noel Whelan earned a huge praise on Leeds United striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga after his remarkably debut against Burton on Saturday.
The 25-year-old netted two goals and assisted another two as he played in an integral role in a 5-0 mauling at home to Burton.
Thomas Christiansen’s side continued their unbeaten start to the new season and are up to second in the Championship as a result.
Lassoga made a dream start in the league on his debut and the early signs are that he will be a real handful in England.
Whelan was blown away but the performance of the German forward and hailed him as a really “intelligent player”.
“Lasogga today I think gave a fantastic performance, lead the line really well, brought people into play, really intelligent player and took his goals incredibly well,” Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds. “It looks like we’ve got a great striker on our hands here.”
The Whites only signed Lasgga on deadline day as he moved to Elland Road on a season-long loan from Bundesliga side Hamburg.
Lassago previously has earned a top-flight experience in Germany, but took the bold decision to force a move and get his first taste of English football.
He only managed 61 minutes before he was substituted as he gets up to full speed, but has become an instant favourite among the fans.
Writer’s digest
Leeds have shown everyone in the early signs of the season they have goals from all over the park, but they will be relieved that they appear to have found a prolific goalscorer to lead the line. They are in a purple patch of form, but will have poor spells during the course of the season and will need to win ugly.
Lasogga looks the type of player that can nick a goal and has the physical attributes to play as a sole centre-forward. He showed a wide variety of skills against Burton and can certainly be the player to fill the void left by Chris Wood.
