Paris Saint-Germain Star, Neymar Jr has acknowledged the fact that he was not expecting his career in the Ligue to boost up so fast since joining the French club from Barcelona.
His supposed move was famously known to be €222 million move from Barcelona to PSG, which raised rumours of what he would bring to France, if he can live up to what was expected of him.
The 26-year-old Brazilian has more than proved doubters wrong, as he went on to bag 26 goals in just 24 appearances for the French Club, with 17 goals coming from Ligue 1 in 16 appearances including 11 assists.
When talking to PSG Tv, Neymar said:
“No, I wasn’t expecting this at the beginning, these statistics with Paris Saint-Germain. But I’m here to help the team and my teammates and to try and do better each day, in each match, and that’s the most important thing, I want to do more, score more goals and play better. I hope it all keeps going well.”
Paris Saint-Germain are currently sitting atop the Ligue 1, leading the second place with an astonishing 11 points clear. The French giants have qualified for their fifth successive Coupe de la Ligue final, after losing their first match in 12 matches.
His partnership with his front forward teammates Edinson Cavani and Kylian Mbappe has improved French club this season.
Since the signing of Mbappe and Neymar, PSG have been known to have one of the deadliest attacks in World now known as “MCN”. The Trio has been involved in 47 goals out of the French clubs 72 league strikes this season.
Still talking to the Club’s Tv, Neymar said:
“It comes from the players’ qualities, the qualities of each athlete out on the pitch. Our team doesn’t just depend on its three attackers. You need to get the ball to the forwards if you’re going to get goals. But if you didn’t have midfielders and defenders, it would be impossible!” said the Brazilian, who thinks the PSG front is not yet at its peak as there is still room for improvement.
PSG will return to Champions League action on February 14 against Champions Real Madrid.
