Celtic captain Scott Brown suggests Celtic shouldn’t expect too much from the club new signing Charly Musonda.
The Scotland international has told the Glasgow Evening Times that the new Celtic boy will need more time before he can start making rounds up in the Scottish Premiership.
Celtic signed Musonda on an 18-month deal from Chelsea last week. The Belgium under-21 international ace made his debut at Kilmarnock on Saturday but the clash ended 1-0 defeat for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
Musonda, like so many of his new Celtic team-mate, looked a little off the pace and having come into a new country, Brown a £4.4 million signing in 2007 via The Guardian, suggests that patience is key when it comes to the youngster.
Brown told The Glasgow Evening Time:
“Charly needs a bit of time but I am sure that we will see what he has got once he gets match sharp.
“There are a lot of games coming up for us over the next few weeks so hopefully we can start to find our pace again.
“The club have worked hard to bring in some new faces in the window and I am sure we will see their impact between now and the end of the season.”
The captain might well be right in his assertions about Musonda.
Patrick Roberts also joined Celtic on an initial 18-month loan deal from Manchester City two years ago, and it took the youngster who was reportedly linked to leave Celtic and join Leicester City in a makeweight deal that will see Riyad Mahrez join Manchester City four games before he scored or set up a goal for the Hoops.
But from there, the England under-20 international immediately established himself as a huge player for Rodgers’ squad for the Parkhead side, and fans of the Glasgow club will be hoping that Musonda can have a similar impact.
