Serie A giants AS Roma have become the latest side to be linked with a January move for Celtic player Moussa Dembele, according to The Scotsman just few hours after reports broke out that Brendan Rodgers rejected winter move for the £20million rated striker.
Dembele has been at the centre of transfer rumours for essentially his entire career with the Scottish giants, with interest from various clubs only increasing this January.
He has been unused in the club’s last two matches, with Rodgers choosing not to play him over fears of a lack of focus which might raise disrupt among the Celtic faithful.
Roma’s interest in Dembele are thought to be the on-going speculation linking Edin Dzeko to Chelsea this January are contemplating on whether or not Dembele should replace the Bosnian at the club.
Celtic’s assistant manager Chris Davies even went so far as to suggest that the young striker may feel the time has come for him to leave the Parkhead, which drew missed reactions withing the Celtic faithfuls and pundits.
As per report from AS Roma Live, the capital based club are believed to be eyeing a move for the 21-year-old sensation as a replacement for Dzeko, who is expected to finalized his move to Stamford Bridge in the coming days.
Crystal Palace, Everton, Stoke City and Brighton have all been linked with Dembele, who has scored impressive 40 goals in 70 appearances for Celtic since his free transfer move from Fulham.
The Serie A side director Monchi has been a long term admirer of the young striker, having tried to sign him from the Championship side for Sevilla during his time at the La Liga club.
