Liverpool have sent out scouts to watch top-flight defender Sebastian Caceres, according to the Sun.
The British outlet claim that the Merseyside club have sent scouts to monitor the 18-year-old, who plays for Montevideo-based club Liverpool FC in Uruguay’s top flight.
Football Weeks understands that the centre-back is viewed an a highly rated player and is being tipped for a move to European football.
The report according to the newspaper add that the Reds will face competition from Chelsea, Manchester City and Spanish giants Barcelona in the race to sign the Uruguay Under-18 captain.
However, Premier League clubs are likely to win the competition to sign the centre-back as report reveals the player’s representatives Nick Maytum is based in England.
Is signing Sebastian Caceres a good move for Liverpool?
Sebastian Caceres is a major upcoming talent and has already nailed a spot as a first teamer in a top-flight club.
The ball-playing centre-back has already make a name for himself at international level too and it has alerted some of Europe’s big clubs.
It is good news for the Reds supporters that they are monitoring the great young centre-back from across the world and trying to unearth a jewel.
However, the Under-19 Uruguayan international is unlikely to make an immediate impact in the Premier League anytime soon and the Reds need more senior reinforcements at centreback.
How likely is this going to happen?
Liverpool have only just joined other sides in the hunt for the South American talent and any potential move will be a matter of time.
Barcelona have become renowned at bringing up South America talents at the La Masia academy and turning them into superstars over the years.
However, Jurgen Klopp’s side have also had their fair share of players abroad and are clearly interested in finding out more about the youngster.
Klopp has never been afraid in testing youngsters with great tasks and if they are good enough they will play.
Caceres’ English representative may have a role to play in his future and a move to the Premier League could be on the cards, but for now it is not certain that he will end up at Anfield.
