Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Jozo Simunovic’s poor performance in the club’s Scottish Cup win over Partick Thistle on Saturday – and the majority of the fans have expressed plenty of anger towards the defender.
The Scottish champions looked set to book their place in the next roud with a comfortable two goal ahead inside the first 10 minutes against their Scottish Premiership rivals.
However, the next goal came for the visitors, largely thanks to Simunovic. The Bosnian’s back pass was not strong enough to reach Dorus De Vries, and that allowed Kris Doolan to halve the deficit by lifting the ball over the veteran goalkeeper.
Forrest would complete his hat-trick nine minutes into the second-half to seemingly put the game beyond doubt. But there was to be a late scare, and once again, Simunovic was set to come in for criticism.
Simunovic’s seemed to put a poor fight during a battle with Conor Sammon before the striker found the back of the net with six minutes remaining. Luckily for Celtic, they held on to secure the win.
His performance was slammed by the supporters after game. The centre-back form has been called into question on a few occasions this season, and his latest performance has left a number of fans worried with a Europa League tie with Zenit just around the corner and a number of injuries within the squad.
Great performance today from James Forrest. Stamping his position in the starting XI. That defence is worrying.. Simunovic was horrible today! Bring on Zenit!!! 🍀 #Celtic

Simunovic should never be in a Celtic jersey, been absolutely hopeless all season

Simunovic has regressed badly. Needs to go.

Forrest is player of the season for me. Absolutely brilliant today. Simunovic is an absolutely pathetic defender who should be nowhere near out team. Dembele needs to get his finger out.

Simunovic looked a bag of nerves the whole game, awful!

Simunovic has been an absolute joke this season. He was outstanding last season, how can a player decline so sharply. Lustig is finished. Ajer and Tierney are our defensive saviours. Fear the worst for Wednesday.

I see from todays match Simunovic is also incapable of playing on grass, he was brutal, as was Referee and still a malaise in our overall play. Side is deteriorating not improving.

Delighted to get thru .. however Dembele invisible, Sinclair not interested in giving 100%, Simunovic liability (to blame for both goals), Lustig not fit (all injuries catching up), DeVries not up to it (Bain surely must get chance), need to man up b4 things slip away 🍀🍀
