The first Fantasy Premier League of 2018 kicks off on the 1st of January with Brighton hosting AFC Bournemouth in the early kickoff. So, FPL manager’s transfer decisions need to be made by 11:30 UK time on the 1st of January. There are three 3 pm kickoffs on the New Year day. These Premier League fixtures between Burnley vs Liverpool, Leicester City vs Huddersfield Town and Stoke City vs Newcastle United. The late kickoff on the New Year day is Everton hosting Manchester United at the Goodison Park.
The Game Week 22 then proceeds the following day with several night game. These are fixtures between Swansea City vs Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United vs West Bromwich Albion and Manchester City vs Manchester City vs Watford. The big match is the one coming up on the 3rd as Arsenal and Chelsea square offs. Spurs and West Ham then have their second game of GW 22 as they face off on the final day of the game week.
That being said, here are Football Weeks’s Fantasy Football on three players you should sign this week.
Harry Kane (12.9)
Tottenham did not have a game in GW 21. So, this week the north London club have two in one game week. Therefore, you need at least one Tottenham player in your team this week. The obvious and best choice is Harry Kane.
The England international has already netted 18 goals and earned one assists in the Premier League for his side this season. This makes him the top scorer – one goal ahead of Mohamed Salah – in the Premier League. It also makes Kane the top forward on FPL with 131 points.
The forward is also in brilliant form as he has scored back to back hattricks in his last two league games which is a very impressive achievement. Additionally, Tottenham first game this week is against Swansea. While Mauricio Pochettino’s men did pick up a win in their last game vs a poor Watford side, the Swans are still struggling. They are sitting 19th in the table and have won just four all season. So, when Kane plays against a poor Swansea defence in the form he is in, there are chances another hattrick is going to happen.
Raheem Sterling (8.8)
Manchester City are at home to Watford this game week. As already mentioned, the Hornets are really struggling lately. Marco Silva’s side have lost four of their last five games and are slowly moving down the table.
So, City as well all know, facing a weaker side in the form they are on, it could well end up five or six nil to Pep’s men. Therefore, you want a City player in your team and the man I think you should pick this week is Raheem Sterling.
Sterling is having his best season ever for the Premier League leaders scoring 13 goals and assisted seven already in the flight top. This puts the England international on the FPL leaderboard, only one goal behind Salah. Sterling also costs just 8.8 which is fantastic for the number of points he gets you.
Jamie Vardy (8.6)
Anyone out there looking for a relative cheap striker? If yes, Jamie Vardy is your number one choice who will do quite well for you. Vardy is having a stellar season for the Foxes. He has scored nine goals and has two assists to his name this season including one in his last game vs Liverpool.
Vardy is 5th on the FPL leaderboard which is very good for the price you pay for him. Furthermore, Leicester are at home to Huddersfield this week. Huddersfield have earn three points from their last three games. But they are not in great shape and a team such as Leicester is likely to be able to tear them apart at home. And given that Vardy has found the net nine times already this season; he is likely to be amongst the goals.
While some people may question his inclusion given the 2015/16 Premier League champions’ poor form, Vardy is still scoring goals even though Leicester are losing games. As shown by their last game they lost at the Anfield, Vardy still found his way to the back of the net.
