According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, England Championship side Leeds United are considering a move for Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan – but Celtic should join the race to sign the keeper after injury hit to Gordon.
Leeds do have a brilliant option between the sticks in person of Felix Wiedwald and Andy Lonergan as backup following their summer moves to Elland Road.
However, unlike Leeds first-choice at goal, Lonergan have been struggling for consistency this season and the Liverpool goalkeeper would be an upgrade on him, though it remains to be seen if he would beat Wiedwald of his number one shirt if he ends up at the West Yorkshire.
Celtic’s match against Hibs on Saturday shows how much Celtic need a new gloves between the sticks and perhaps a move for the Hungary international should be considered.
Brendan Rodgers confirmed yesterday that Gordon suffered a serious knee injury in the 1-0 win over Hibs and perhaps Bogdan, given the time in which he has to find a replacement and history between the pair, could be a decent option for Rodgers.
Rodgers signed the former Bolton Wanderers shot-stopper while in-charge at Liverpool back in the summer of 2015, but the 30-year-old who is now rated at around £1 million according to Transfermarkt was only able to register two senior appearances under Rodgers before the Northern Irishman got sacked in October of 2015.
Celtic have barely four days to find a replacement for Gordon, if the post-match medical examination of the Scottish goalkeeper reveal to be a lengthy absence, Celtic beating Leeds to the signing of Bogdan makes sense under the circumstances.
