Chelsea defence was breached more than once for the first time since September. Antonio Conte’s were given areal test for their title credentials as Stoke City produced performances that matched in all departments. In fact Potters gained the upper hand in the first half and could have taken the lead.
Mark Hughes men were defeated 1-4 by Liverpool last weekend but they did not allow that to dictate their performances as the Blues were forced to retake the lead twice and registered their 13th win on the trot.
They would have considered themselves unlucky going by the results in the two matches. They had taken the lead against Liverpool but still lost the match.
A brace from Willian and a goal each from Gary Cahill and Diego Costa gave Chelsea 4-2 win over Stoke City.
Cahill put Chelsea ahead in the 34th minute but Brumo Martins Indi levelled for Stoke just after the break. Willian restored his team lead eleven minutes after only for Peter Crouch to draw Stoke level again with a high side-foot effort.
The Potters had barely enjoy the parity when Willian struck again a minute later to put Chelsea in front for the third time before Diego Costa brilliant effort put the game beyond the Potters in the 85th minute.
The win put Chelsea on the same record for the number of consecutive top-flight win in a single season. It was previously held by Arsenal only.
A win over Tottenham on Wednesday evening will see them break that record.
