Werder Bremen striker Lennart Thy has played down exit talk this summer, amid rumours that Celtic were planning to make an approach at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old re-joined Bremen in 2016 from FC St.Pauli but has struggled for playing time with the Bundesliga outfit and was sent out on loan to Dutch Eredivisie side VVV-Venlo this season as a result.
Thy has scored and created 15 goals in 28 league games during his loan spell which has led to Celtic considering making an approach when the summer transfer window opens.
However, the Germany u20 international is focused on getting first-team football with Bremen rather than leaving the club again next season.
He said, in quotes reported by The S*n:
“At the end of the season I’ll return to Bremen and I will work harder than ever to get into the team next season.
“It was a good decision to go on loan but it was made clear to me I won’t be at Venlo for more than a year.”
It’s bad news for Celtic as they look set to lose young striker Odsonne Edouard, who joined on loan from Paris Saint-Germain last summer, as Portuguese Primeira Liga side Vitoria de Guimaraes have been promised his services for next season.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed he and the scouting team are lining up transfer targets for next season, but Thy may not be on his way to Parkhead based on his latest comments.
