West Ham boss Slaven Bilic could reignite interest in Borussia Dortmund attacker Andre Schurrle in January, according to the Sun.
The newspaper claim that the former Chelsea striker is deemed surplus to requirements with the Bundesliga giant and the Hammers could try to hijack him in the next transfer window.
Football Weeks understands that the London Stadium outfit were offered the chance to sign the Germany player on deadline day on an initial loan deal with an interest to buy for £26million.
However, the report details that the Hammers took lose interest in the player this summer’s deadline day and missed out on his signature.
The 26-year-old is a familiar name to Premier League view during his stint with Chelsea and could make a sensational return to English football in January.
Is signing Andre Schurrle a good move for West Ham?
The Hammers spent brilliant in the summer and signing a player of his caliber would be another boost for the London club.
Schurrle has won the World Cup with his national side and is recognized as a top scorer, with 22 goals in 57 international appearances.
However, he has struggled to make the desired impact with the German outfit, but injuries and competition for places have held him back.
The ex-Chelsea striker could have a huge impact at the London Stadium if he joined and is a versatile attacker that can play anywhere across the front-line.
He scored 14 goals in 65 appearances during his time with Chelsea and should soon be entering the peak of his career.
How likely is this going to happen?
Schurrle joining West Ham is a deal that seems likely in January given the negotiations that took place with Dortmund this summer.
He is unlikely to get much attention this season and will be hoping to book his place in Germany’s World Cup squad by playing regular football.
West Ham United have shown interest since their move to the London Stadium and it would be no surprise to see the Hammers boss reignite a move for a proven player in the upcoming transfer window.
