The international break often put league activities on hold while it lasts. While some coaches are sweating over the fitness of some of their players as the Premier League resumes some players who ac game at the club eve see t as an opportunity to prove their worth, if any, or to regain or boost their confidence.

We take a look at three players who have been at the club level but produced stellar performances for their countries with the hope of replicating the same at their clubs.

Daniel Sturridge

Jurgen Klopp has built the team around the attacking trio of Philippe Coutinho Roberto Firmino and Saido Mane making it difficult for the England striker to break into the starting line-up. He has been limited to few appearances this season and he is yet to score in the Premier League but has managed to net four times in two League Cup games. Against Scotland he produced a performance reminiscence of the old Sturridge and Suarez partnership in 2013/2014 season and he scored a fantastic goal for England. He will be hoping Klopp will be convinced enough to consider him for the first team.

Paul Pogba

The French midfielder has struggled to settle in the Premier League since his world record fee return to Manchester United. His poor form has been a source of debate of who to blame for it. But in his national colours he always feels relaxed and he is an important player in the national team. He looked composed and controlled the game in midfield in the match against Sweden. He capped off his performance with a beautiful goal.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

The attacking midfielder is almost forgotten by Jose Mourinho at Manchester United. The Armenia international has not played for the club since he was substituted in the match against Man City but produced a stellar performance that saw his national team overturned a two-goal deficit to win 3-2. He was only denied by the post from getting his name on the score sheet. United fans have been clamouring for his inclusion in the starting team that will face Arsenal this weekend.
