There have been calls from different quarters for the removal of Arsene Wenger and even his once beloved fans are not left out. His inability to win the Premier League in the last 13 years and failure to have successful outings in the Champions League have been the major reasons for the call for his sack.

The French boss have spent twenty year at the London club but after a successful first decade the second decade has not been that rosy for the 67-year-old with just two FA Cups to show for it.

Quite a number of high profile coaches have been linked with Wenger’s job and the latest to be reportedly shortlisted is Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez, as per The Sun.

Though the Spanish boss has the support of the Toons’ fans there is a break down in relationship between him and owner Mike Ashley which could see him ply his trade somewhere next season.

The former Liverpool, Chelsea and Real Madrid boss has the pedigree for the job having won the Champions League and the Europa League with Liverpool and Chelsea respectively.

But the question is he the right man to replace Wenger? Arsenal wouldn’t want to experience what happened to Man United after the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson.

Obviously, it is now difficult to get a coach that will spend up to two decades at a club but someone of Benitez calibre who has not spent three years, of recent; at the same club may not be the right candidate for the job.

Likewise,  Benitez may not want to ditch the support to the Newcastle faithful for arguably the most melodramatic fan-base in the top flight.
