Diego Costa is set to commit his future to Chelsea and end speculations of any possible exit from the club. The forward’s future at Stamford Bridge has been shrouded in uncertainty since last summer and was heavily linked with a move to the Chinese Super League.

But Chelsea seems to have realised how important he is to the club and are ready to make him the highest paid player at the club.

As reported by The Sun, the 28-year-old attacker is ready to put pen to paper on a new five years deal worth an incredible £220,000 per week plus bonuses which could rise to £65 million.

The Spanish striker had wanted a move back to former club Atletico Madrid last summer but Antonio Conte, on his arrival, convinced him to stay at the London club. However a training ground bust-up between the pair appeared to have the forward out of the club and he was dropped for the match against Leicester City.

Soon after, he was bent on quitting the club in the summer even after the Blues rejected Chinese club Tianjin Quanjin’s £30m-a-year offer. Now his representatives have opened talks with club about a new contract.

The new deal would move him ahead of Cesc Fabregas in Chelsea pay scale and would also take him to be among the top five earners in the Premier League where Wayne Rooney top the list with £300k a week.

Costa has been instrumental to Chelsea title charge this season and he is their top scorer with 15 goals, and assisting another five in the Premier League.
