Rafa Benitez desperately needs to sign a new number 10 at Newcastle this summer and beating St. Etienne in their report pursuit of resigning Remy Cabella could the secret to avoiding Premier League relegation.
According to Yahoo Sport report Manu Lonjon on his personal Twitter account that the Ligue 1 giants want to sign Marseille playmaker Cabella on loan, after falling down the pecking order under Rudi Garcia.
The likes of Dimitri Payer, Florian Thauvin and Aleksandr Golovin all sit ahead of the former Newcastle player, who could be on the lookout for a move away from the club before the end of the transfer window.
Remy Cabella joined Newcastle in 2014 after starring for Montpellier in the season prior to his move. However, after spending two-year with the Toons, Cabella managed to score just one goal in 31 league and cup appearances.

With something to prove at St. James’ Park, the Frenchman could be the perfect buy as Newcastle look to add the creativity to their side that is required to steer clear of a Premier League relegation battle.
The player will be remembered for his quick feet and trickery on the ball but he could not replicate the kind of vision and eye for goal that has seen him shine in France’s top tier over and over again.
Despite registering 19 of his 32 league and cup matches last season, the four-time France international managed to have a hand in 11 goals as he netted six times and turned provided on a further five occasions.
Ayoze Perez is yet to show the kind of form that saw him baffle Premier League defences before the Magpies’ relegation in 2015-16, while Mohamed Diame’s performances have been impressive since signing from Hull city.
A goal-poacher is needed in the number 10 role, and Cabella could be the perfect buy if he is will to prove Toon fans that they were too quick to judge.
Cabella is now back to his best with Marseille and if the Toon can beat St. Etienne to his signature, then they may well add the missing ingredient to confirming their Premier League status come May 2018.
