Vincent Kompany is set for his second start of the year in tomorrow’s FA Cup when Manchester City face Huddersfield at John Smith’s Stadium.

The Manchester City club captain has been on an injury-enforced leave for 18-month but he is now fit to fill back his space in City’s defensive line at the John Smith’s stadium for their fifth clash with the Terriers.

Kompany’s only appearance this year was in his side’s 3-0 FA Cup win against Crystal Palace three weeks ago, his appearance has been infrequent as his time at the Etihad Stadium has been plagued with injury.

The Belgian has been knocked off 10 times since December 2014, with a hamstring keeping him out of form for eight games between the 2014 festive fixture period and mid-January.

The 30-year-old made a comeback for a period before he got sent off again with a calf strain in November 2015 and lost game time and the aftermath saw him viewing from the stands for another five months.

Groin strains and a knee injury have added salt to Kompany’s injury in recent months, and the Belgium international has just 28 appearances in the last 18 months for City as a result.

Manager Pep Guardiola and his squad clash with Monaco on Tuesday in their Champions League last-16 challenge and now with the club returning, a good result is expected from the team and Spanish tactician is ready to shuffle his personnel.

Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo who has been benched for four games now might be returning to the starting line-up for, and Nicolas Otamendi, Gael Clichy and Fabien Delph could possibly be returned to the starting line-up too against Huddersfield.

Sergio Aguero, who has playing as back up for Gabriel Jesus recently is likely to make a return too as the Brazillian just suffered an injury in City’s Premier League win over Bournemouth on Monday.
