Liverpool FC news: Is Michael Keane the solution to Liverpool’s midfield crisis?

Liverpool have reportedly joined the queue of clubs tying to sign Burnley defender Michael Keane. They are possibly the sixth Premier League club planning to lure the England International over and would go head to head with the likes of Everton, Manchester City, Leicester City, Manchester United and Arsenal  in their bid to sign him.

Burnley have shown tremendous improvement this season, amassing 32 points in 31 games, and manager Sean Dyche would be hoping for a top-half finish. The Clarets haven’t shown signs of wanting to release any of their players but if the right offer should come along for Keane, they would be willing to let him go.

The 24-year-old centre-back has appeared 12 times for the Burnley side since he joined them from Manchester United in 2015. His fine form this term earned him a call-up to the England International team for the qualifier rounds with new manager Gareth Southgate.

Liverpool’s defense has been a source of concern for manager Jurgen Klopp as his side is the most conceding club in the top six.

Klopp has preference for an all-out attack and it has been favorable to them  as they have scored the highest number of goals in the Premier League this season (61 goals) but they have come to realize they cannot always win a match with the season coming to an end and the players have also become weary.

Joel Matip is the only consistent player in the middle of the park. Klopp has had difficulty with Ragnar Klavan and Dejan Lovren, and desperation has seen him using Lucas Leiva as a centre-half. Keane will definitely be a welcome improvement.

Keane is a product Manchester United academy and have been on a loan spell with Leicester City, Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Burnley before he made a permanent deal with Burnley and ever since, Keane has been part of their first team and has been a big part of league success.

The English man, alongside Paul Pogba and Jese Lingard, was a part of the FA Youth Cup winning team. The Red Devils have tried severally to bring him back to Old Trafford but every attempt has fallen through. His game reading abilities and technique on the ball would give Liverpool the edge they need to stay in form.
