Manchester United are reportedly considering to sign Atletico Madrid ace Saul Niguez and Roma defensive midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
According to the Daily Star, it reports that the Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho sent out two of his scouts to watch the midfield duo in the Champions League match between the two sides in midweek.
The Daily Star added that the Old Trafford outfits are looking to find a long-term replacement for club captain Michael Carrick.
Good move for Manchester United?
22-year-old Saul Niguez has become an important member at Atletico and he has a skill of scoring crucial goals from midfield, registering up nine goals in his last two seasons across all competitions.
The Spain international is an ideal candidate and he would easily become a firm favourite with Mourinho and the fans as his work-rate in one of the best in the league.
Radja Nainggolan, 29, has recently been previously linked with a move to Old Trafford and it’s no surprise given his ability to defend well and also produce an attacking outlet.
He has been one of the main reasons why his Italian side have become the closest title challengers to Juventus over the past couple of seasons.
Likely to happen?
United will have to break the bank and entice both European clubs with substantial bids in order to persuade them to selling their best stars.
Nainggolan recently signs a new deal in the summer and Saul also signed a new contract with the Rojiblancos which will see him remain with Diego Simeone’s side until 2026.
Both potential deals could depend on how the Red Devils perform over the course of the season and with new signing Nemanja Matic superb in the early part of the season, Mourinho might decide to pursues one of the two midfielders in the summer.
F/W’s view
Both Saul Niguez and Radja Nainggolan would be excellent additions to the current stock of players in Jose Mourinho’s first-team squad.
