The UNFP have confirmed that Paris Saint-German striker Edinson Cavani has gotten a nomination for Ligue 1 player of the year award, while Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe is leading the race for the young player of the year.

Cavani, 30, has picked up a whopping 45 goals in 44 appearances across all competition this season, and assisting in four goals as PSG go head to head with Monaco for the Ligue 1 title.

When Zlatan Ibrahimovic transferred to Manchester United from PSG last summer, many was of the opinion that Cavani would walk in the shadow of his former teammate, but the Uruguayan star has proved many wrong with his continual display of strength in the absence of the United forward. Cavani competes for the award with four other nominees namely Marco Verratti, Bernardo Silva and Alexandre Lacazette.

Arsenal target man Lacazette has scored 31 goals in 40 appearances across all competition for Lyon this season, while Marco Verratti and Bernando Silva have both been exceptional for their side in the central park for PSG and Monaco respectively.

Meanwhile, in the award for Young player of the year, Monaco’s Mbappe leads his peers with a wide margin this season, finding the net 23 times in 37 appearances across all competition thereby attracting the interest of many top clubs like Chelsea, Barcelona and the two Manchester outfit.

The 18-year old will go head to head with his Monaco teammates Thomas Lemar as well as Wylan Cyprien who plays for Nice and Adrien Rabiot of PSG for the award.

The four managers nominated for the coach of the year award are PSG manager Unai Emery, Monaco’s tactician Leonardo Jardim, Lucien Favre of Nice and Bordeaux coach Jocelyn Gourvennec.

I order news, SkySports has confirmed the Uruguayan forward has extends contract with PSG until 2020.
