Chelsea are faced with a decisive week that could eventually make or break their season no matter the success they have enjoyed before this. They visit Anfield on Tuesday night and host Arsenal few days after.

The Blues are eight points clear at the top of the league with Arsenal in the second position and failure to win both matches will cut their lead to just two points.

Chelsea lost to both Liverpool and Arsenal successively back in September, making Antonio Conte to change his tactics and have gone on to claim 15 wins in 16 matches. They are faced with same opponents consecutively again and Conte will be keen to avoid a repeat of that otherwise all their run of wins would be a waste.

It will be hard to see Chelsea relinquishing their lead if they avoid defeat over their next two games. In the history of the Premier League only one team had blown an eight points lead and that was Newcastle United.

A win over Liverpool –which is guaranteed on paper- would ensure that Chelsea are at least eight points clear of second place ahead of their clash with Arsenal.

The return of Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott – who both scored a brace and a hat-trick respectively over the weekend – has added more firepower to the Gunners attack and they pose more threat to Chelsea than Liverpool.

Both clubs fans will be looking forward to seeing Chelsea lose the two matches. Obviously, wins for the league leaders in both matches will put them beyond the reach and put the title race to bed with 14 matches remaining.
