Chelsea FC news: John Terry admit Premier League trophy still a long way off

Chelsea captain John Terry asserts that despite the blues being in control of the Premier League title race, victory over Arsenal on Saturday would not guarantee their emergence as the winner.

A nine-point gap was created between the Blues and Arsenal after the Gunners 2-1 defeat against Watford while Chelsea has been in excellent form this season loosing just two of their last 17 top-flights outings.

Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in September plays a major role in motivating manager Antonio Conte into changing his formation to the favoured 3-4-3 line-up which has proved effective.

After their 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield in their last fixture, Terry aims for a win when they would be hosting Arsenal at Stamford Bridge on Saturday but he still insist there is a long way off as there is still plenty of life in the title race.

“There are still so many points to play for. It could be a big three points [against Arsenal],” he is quoted as saying by The Sun. “I don’t think it will be the be all and end all. I don’t think that will be the end if we manage to win the game.

“When I looked at these fixtures the Liverpool one [on Wednesday, a 1-1 draw] and this one, I thought if we can pick up four points in these two games that will be incredible and set us on the way. We have got the first part of that job done and now have another big game at the weekend.”

Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are the only league club to have defeat Chelsea in all past fixtures since their big loss at the Emirate Stadium in September.
